The EDGE has developed a highly-customized “Life Coaching” model that focuses on the individual needs of each of its clients.Clients receive their own Life Coach, who works with them individually to achieve and exceed their academic, personal, and professional goals.
The focus of The EDGE’s “Life Coaching” model is in the development of a “BRAND” for each client in order to find the “right fit” for an undergraduate, graduate education or career opportunity.
- One on One Coaching (facilitated in the home)
- One on One Coaching (phone and internet)
- At various high schools one on one meetings are facilitated at the school if permissible by the administration
The following is a sample of the services The EDGE provides for high school students in grades 9-12 that sign up for One on One Coaching, either in the home or via the telephone.
Comprehensive evaluation of student's objective
- Evaluate student's transcript.
- Review student's course work.
- Distribute "Success Profile" to both the student & parents.
- Discuss the student and family's goals for college and beyond.
- Discuss student's strengths & weaknesses in their academic and extracurricular activities. Analyze all of the results communicated by the student and family.
- Develop and implement a "game plan" with objectives and goals, and an understanding of how the results, if achieved, impact the following year's goals and expectations.
Comprehensive annual program
- Review The EDGE's Application Timeline Calendar.
- Guide in selection of classes and teachers, where possible.
- Guide in selection of extracurricular activities.
- Introduce and begin Phase #4 of The EDGE's Grammar & Writing Program, both in person and on line.
- Provide on-going support i.e., motivation, evaluation of progress in classes, activities and personal issues.
- Help arrange tutorial support, if needed.
- Preview of successful college essays, short answer questions, resumes and applications.
- Guide in creating the list of 8-12 colleges the student will apply to.
- Assist in requesting and acquiring the college applications for the 8-12 colleges selected.
- Guide and coach in writing the Personal Statement in draft form over the summer of senior year.
- Guide and coach in writing the college résumé in draft form for both the application and teacher recommendations.
- Review 11th grade SAT results and put together an action plan to work on student's strengths and weaknesses as they relate to performing better on the SAT's in the fall of senior year.
- Continue work on preparing to write "on command" essays in 20 and 30-minute increments.
- Review 11th grade ACT results and put together an action plan to work on one's strengths and weaknesses as they relate to performing better on the ACT in the fall of senior year.
- Review SAT II Subject tests results, if taken, and develop an action plan to improve scores during the fall of senior year.
- Help sign-up for the appropriate fall senior year SAT, ACT and SAT II tests.
- Guide in selecting more colleges, if needed, via videos and view books that fit each student's desires, needs, and academic metrics.
- Assist in setting up the application process, including completing rough draft applications, getting teacher recommendations, revising the résumé and Personal Statement, writing additional essays and or short answer questions for Early Decision/Early Action, Rolling Admissions and Regular Admission.
- Assist throughout the application process to make sure the final product puts the student in the best light in order to achieve acceptance into his or her colleges of choice.
- Assist in setting up college campus visits in the fall, if needed.
- Guide in acquiring scholarship applications that fit the student's profile as a 12th grader.
- Assist in filling out financial aid paperwork.
- Assist in discussions with admissions officers on the status of applications.
- Provide guidance and assistance once acceptance letters arrive to determine what college the student wants to attend.
- Help set up campus visits for the student, once accepted.
- Help prepare the student for college i.e., potential class schedule, what to bring from home and what to buy on campus, etc.
- Be available via phone throughout the year to discuss with parents and students any issues or concerns related to getting into the college of the student's choice.
- Provide additional help and guidance throughout college to address any questions the student and parents may have about the student's needs, desires or circumstances.
The following is a sample of the services The EDGE provides to full time undergraduate and graduate students that either sign up for One on One Coaching at their school or via the telephone.

- Map courses for the student's undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Distribute "Success Profile" to the student.
- Provide a standardized Evaluation and Assessment tool to determine a student's strengths and weaknesses.
- Discuss student's strengths & weaknesses in their academic, extracurricular and personal lives. Analyze all of the results communicated by both the student's Life Coach and provide a summary report.
- Develop and implement a "game plan" with objectives and goals, and an understanding of how the results, if achieved, impact the following year's goals and expectations.
- Conduct bi-monthly meetings between the Life Coach and the student to discuss the progress of the student's short term and long term goals and objectives.
- Arrange informational interviews in areas of the student's interests.
- Teach networking skills to students.
- Develop each student's interviewing skills through role playing and other resources.
- Provide a choice of school year and summer internships developed by The EDGE for its Life Coaching students with many of the Fortune 1000 companies.
